An important bodyguard of Saudi Arabia's King Salman has been shot dead according to state information. The incident took place in the port of Jeddah, according to a leaked by the news agency SPA police message.
Major General Abdul Asis al-Faghm had quarreled with a friend on Saturday evening on the private property of a friend. It had come to a verbal battle, whereupon the friend has drawn a gun and opened the fire.
Since he did not want to surrender, the alleged perpetrator was shot dead by the police. Seven people were injured, including five security guards.
According to local media, Faghm was taken to the hospital, where he eventually died. Faghm was also the personal bodyguard of the 2015 deceased King Abdullah, whose successor was Salman.
