A Prisoner of the Berlin Prison (JVA) Tegel has allegedly welded two bars of his cell. JVA staff had discovered the 52-year-old, said a spokesman for the judiciary.
It should have come to the breakout attempt early Monday morning. According to the spokesman, however, the prisoner had not yet overcome the external forces. Local media, including RBB and the "Berliner Zeitung" reported that the man had roped off from the third floor, but was still caught on the façade of employees.
How the man came to the welder, was still unclear. "This is extraordinary, this is an incident we need to investigate," the spokesman said. The 52-year-old man is a man sentenced to life imprisonment in 2016.
