The series of slumps in football stars Spanish top clubs evidently continues. According to concurring Spanish media reports, on the night of Tuesday burglars invaded Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey's home and stole numerous valuables.
Partey had traveled to the Champions League match of his team at Lokomotiv Moscow and therefore not in the house. The Ghanaian domestic worker, who oversaw the domicile of the 26-year-old in the suburb of Boadilla, was threatened by the perpetrators but not injured. The amount of the damage is reportedly not yet determined.
For months, burglaries involving absent football professionals, especially from Real and Atletico, have been affecting the police in Madrid. Only last Saturday, criminals had broken into the home of Real player Casemiro during his derby against Atletico.
In recent months, there have been several such burglaries within a few days. Among the victims are midfielder Lucas Vázquez, coach Zinédine Zidane and professionals Álvaro Morata and Isco. Already in June there was talk of half a dozen affected real professionals, in February about Karim Benzema had been attacked.
The players themselves should also be responsible: they published images of their homes, jewelery or cars on social media. That brings the perpetrators on the track. In Morata's case, one of the perpetrators is said to have asked for a clock that the player had shown on Instagram. Real Madrid has warned its players against showing their homes on social media.
