The owner of three Cologne pharmacies wants to force the reopening of its branches by court order. The pharmacies had been closed by the authorities, because there was a poisoned glucose drug sold to a pregnant woman. After taking her and her baby died.
The operator has applied to the administrative court for a preliminary injunction against the city of Cologne, confirmed a spokeswoman for the court. Accordingly, the application was already received by the court on 29 September. The pharmacist demands to be able to continue the regular operation.
The Cologne authorities ordered the closure of pharmacies as preventive health protection during the ongoing investigation. Among the three pharmacies is therefore also the Heilig Geist pharmacy in the district Longerich, in which a 28-year-old had bought the glucose preparation a week and a half ago. Shortly thereafter, she and her child, born of emergency cesarean section, had died as a result of taking the remedy. In addition, two more branches of the same owner were closed.
According to SPIEGEL information, an anesthetic should have been in the glucose mix. It appears to be a means of local anesthesia that can trigger feelings of numbness and cardiac arrhythmias. There is no official confirmation, the authorities continue to speak only of a toxic substance.
