In Göttingen a memorial for comedian Heinz Erhardt has been stolen. The police asks the public for information on the whereabouts of the "Doberman".

Which "Heini" was that? A "semi-strong camel", certainly. And woe, if Eberhard Dobermann would catch that! The traffic cop from the movie "Of course the motorists" did not stop himself from chasing criminals during his driving test.

Now his monument has been stolen in Göttingen. Disappeared, as if swallowed by the earth.

In 1959 legendary comedian Heinz Erhardt played the role of the honest pedant Dobermann, who has to earn his driver's license in his old days. The film was shot in Göttingen, among other places, where a place named after Erhardt was named at Weender Tor. Just here, strangers have torn a plexiglass memorial of the zealous policeman out of its pedestal and removed it.

So far, there is no evidence of the whereabouts of the figure, said a police spokeswoman on Saturday. The damage is several thousand euros. The police asked the public for advice on Friday. The monument disappeared accordingly already on 15 September.

The two-meter-high and about 20-pound monument was erected in 2003 in honor of the actor. She recalls that between 1956 and 1960 Erhardt made eight films in Göttingen.
