Armin Laschet, 58 : As prime minister of the most densely populated German federal state, one is already a kind of little chancellor - so Laschet is already one step ahead of the rest. For a long time, the Christian Democrat, although since 2012 CDU-Bundesvize, not in the first league of German politics, but with his election to the head of government of North Rhine-Westphalia in June 2017 he arrived there abruptly. And unlike his SPD predecessor Hannelore Kraft, which excluded ambitions for the Chancellery, lets Laschet appropriate speculations run - or even fired them, as recently in a double interview with ex-Chancellor Gerhard Schröder: promptly proclaimed a bet on Laschets chancellor candidate in the Union.
