The Austrian Armin Wolf is European Journalist of the Year. He is one who keeps asking critical questions.

The Austrian Armin Wolf has been honored as the European Journalist of the Year at the Media Prize Prix Europa. Wolf works as a political TV journalist and is the host of the news program ZIB2 on the ORF.

Wolf is something of a favorite enemy of the right-wing populist, one who is considered a journalistic authority in Austria and moderates for the public ORF, among other things, the late newscast ZiB2 ("time in the picture"), in about the "Tagesthemen" or the " Today journal "corresponds. His critical questions often do not suit the FPÖ (Read more about the attacks on Wolf here).

In his acceptance speech, he warned against interference by politics in the work of the media. Populists tried to gain control, but journalists are unlikely to adapt. "We have to do our job as professional, conscientious, reliable and fair as we can."

The Prix Europa honors media professionals from all over Europe. The festival for television, radio and online offers was launched by the European Parliament and the European Commission in 1987. It is managed by Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) as host. The prize is awarded in several categories - since 2018 in Potsdam.

The award "Best European Film" was awarded to Switzerland, for example, for a documentary about a father from Syria who had to leave his wife in Iraq to save his disabled son. As the "Best European Radio Feature" was honored a piece from Britain, which revolves around the right of women to abortion.
