Two teenagers with deceptively realistic-looking toy weapons have unleashed a large-scale police operation in Nuremberg. The 13- and 14-year-old boys were on Friday evening with so-called airsoft guns armed and in camouflage in the area of an underground station on the way, the police said.
Witnesses had alerted the operations center and stated that two armed men were running around in the Maximilianstraße underground station.
The police then locked the station and searched the area with a large contingent. The two boys were soon discovered near the station. They said they played a game. They had been handed over to the parents and urgently pointed out the dangerous nature of their behavior, the police said.
