The driver was only eight, his passenger three years younger: In North Rhine-Westphalia, a child has caused a car accident - for the parents has the matter an epilogue.
No one was injured in the accident in Hagen, police said. However, the car had been damaged so badly that it had to be towed. Witnesses had accordingly alerted the police around 11:30 pm that night. The eight-year-old should have been sitting behind the wheel and his five-year-old brother in the passenger seat.
The two boys managed to drive a few meters and turn into the next street. "There, the car collided with a parked trailer, which in turn was pushed into another parked car," says the police.
The parents who were summoned subsequently declared at the scene of the accident that the children had sneaked out of the apartment unnoticed. The police filed a complaint against them for violating their duty of supervision.
