On a remote farm in the east of the Netherlands, police have discovered a family that has apparently been isolated for years. The people would now be supplied, said the authorities in the province of Drenthe. A man was provisionally arrested.
The transmitter NOS According to the 58-year-old lived with his six children in a cellar of the court in the village Ruinerwold. Whether he held on to the children against their will and what the background could be, is not yet known.
"He said he had run away"
According to police, the innkeeper at a nearby pub had dialed the emergency call on Monday after a confused young man had contacted him. The 25-year-old said he had not been out for nine years, the landlord told TV channel RTV Drenthe. "He said he ran away and needed help."
The police then drove to the farm and found six people there. "They are now being cared for," the investigators said on Twitter. It is unclear, however, what is the mother of the young people discovered on the farm.
About the exact circumstances and the health condition of the found persons the police made no information. The investigations are still in full swing: "All scenarios are still open."
