The cars were riddled and set on fire: In Mexico, criminals have attacked a police convoy. The security forces had apparently worked with a rival gang.

Alleged members of a drug cartel killed at least 14 police officers in Mexico. They raided a police convoy in Michoacan state on Monday, security officials said. Images circulating on the Internet showed burning police cars with numerous bullet holes.

On at least two cars of the security forces signs were attached, which were signed with the name of the cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG). Thereupon threatening messages were written against policemen supporting rival gangs.

Officials reportedly were on their way to issue a court order when they were attacked. The Governor of Michoacán, Silvano Aurelos, announced investigations against the police of Aguililla.
