According to police, it was the load of the semi-trailer to a less dangerous substance, as initially suspected. It was therefore assumed that the toxic and highly flammable substance isocyanate was transported. But the charge was a less dangerous subgroup of the substance.

According to the police, measures are currently being prepared for transhipment of the hazardous substance on site. The loaded material is no longer dangerous. The constant rain at night had no effect on the already leaked substance.

The hazardous substance transporter had broken through the central line plank on Tuesday afternoon at Wardenburg in the direction of Oldenburg, had overturned on the opposite lane and remained on the side. The truck driver was seriously injured in the accident.

Overall, the tractor had loaded 80 barrels of the substance. Five of them were damaged. The area was closed on Tuesday and a security zone was established. The authorities had called on the people in the afternoon to keep windows and doors shut within a radius of 1000 meters. People who have come in contact with the dangerous goods should change their clothes, pack them in a sealed container and consult a doctor.
