With detailed confessions, the process of a spectacular million-dollar coup with a fake cash-in-transit vehicle has been continued in Essen. The defendants are accused of a series of thefts.

In front of the Essen district court, a lawsuit is running for a million theft with a fake money-carrier. A 25-year-old from Recklinghausen has admitted to having repeatedly dealt with trick theft. "He has gambled a lot of money," it said in a statement read by his defense. "He was not used to handling large sums of money."

For this reason, the 25-year-old with the also accused ex-employee of a security firm planned the big coup in Gronau. He himself has taken on the role of one of the money messengers and captured in December 2016 in a supermarket in Gronau 1.8 million euros. They had specifically selected a day to get a lot of money.

"Above all, it was necessary to appear in front of the right money carrier," it said in the statement. The exact planning had taken over his accomplice from the security firm, which, however, had not been on site.

"He was not a monster for me"

The also accused girlfriend of the 25-year-old admitted to having previously sold out of the crime purchased gold and rented a locker to spy on a Cologne savings banks branch. However, she did so out of love and gratitude because her boyfriend made it possible for her to give up her job with an escort service.

"He was not a monster to me," she told the judges. "He helped me in the most difficult phase of my life." Nevertheless, she regrets her material thinking.

The seven defendants are accused of a series of theft and robbery. The total booty should amount to almost three million euros.

At the end of 2016, around half a million euros were stolen from a parked money transporter in Dortmund. According to the charges, the perpetrators had an original key. In Werne in the district of Unna, an ATM of Postbank was emptied in June 2017 - shortly after it had been filled. Again, the perpetrators should have had a key.

In Mönchengladbach, a jewelery trader was robbed and robbed on her doorstep in the spring of 2016. The value of the prey should amount to around 300,000 euros. In addition, the defendants are said to have planned further raids on banks and cash transporters. They are said to have spent the spoils for jewelry, cars, holidays and brothel visits.

The Essen district court has provided for the trial for 18 more days until December 19, 2019.
