Dirk Nowitzki on career choices of his children: "What they should not do, would be American Football"

What would he do if his children followed in his footsteps? For the retired basketball star Dirk Nowitzki this is obviously no cause for concern.

If they wanted to be basketball pros, he would support that, said the 41-year-old. By contrast, he would have much bigger problems with another sport.

"The only thing they are not allowed to do is American football," Nowitzki said. "I have respect for what's going on with head injuries."

Otherwise, he thinks it's like his own parents, who would have supported him in everything. "But it's also true that if you decide to do something, then you're smart, not everything a little bit and nothing right."

Nowitzki and his wife have two sons and a daughter. The family also lives together in Dallas after the end of his career in the North American League NBA.

Nowitzki had his last game for the Dallas Mavericks in April this year.
