A stolen reported luxury yacht employs the police in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern: The ship drifted on the Müritz through a restricted area full of World War One - without crew.
As a police spokesman in Waren explained, the owner had reported stealing the twelve-meter ship weighing seven tons. Accordingly, it had disappeared on the west bank of the Müritz on Saturday from a harbor. The 51-year-old had moored on Friday, according to their own statements, firmly on the shores of the lake. The ship should be worth about 120,000 euros.
Only hours after the announcement, another boat owner reported an abandoned yacht, which was on a sandbank about five kilometers northeast of Boek on the east bank of the Müritz. It was the yacht sought, the police said.
The investigators are now investigating whether someone has loosened the lines or the ship was not securely moored. The owner obviously had great luck: the yacht had passed a restricted area, where duds lay. There Allied aircraft had bombed a large air base at the end of World War II.
