Maggie Rogers fights against sexist comments

2019-10-21T13:46:39.023Z

The singer Maggie Rogers reports of Pöblern in the audience. The sexist heckling had hit her hard, writes the 25-year-old - and defends herself.

Maggie Rogers is known for her insightful music that touched even hard-core hip hop producer Pharrell Williams. Even at the beginning of performances, the artist often gives the audience a glimpse into her soul and speaks, among other things, about gratitude. For the 25-year-old, this is the most vulnerable part of her show. And this has apparently been used by several visitors to call Roger's sexist comments.

"Take off your top," was heard, Rogers wrote about the incident on Instagram. Someone else shouted, "But you're cute." She had been stunned, angry, confused and hurt. "I stand on stage every night and share a part of myself." Between her and her fans a great trust prevails, which leads to a special atmosphere.

When she enters the stage, she does so with humility before her work, and she knows she has the privilege of doing the job. To convey her music, her body is the best instrument. But that obviously has limits for Rogers.

Maggie Rogers on sexism: Appel to the Pöbler

"I want to use this moment to be very, very clear," writes Rogers after the hostility. "There is no room for harassment, disrespect." She did not want to break her show - and concluded with an appeal: "Be nice to each other."
