Since eight o'clock in the morning, a man has been buried in a museum in the Riviera municipality of Saint-Raphaël in the Var. The police confirmed an on-site visit via Twitter and urged citizens to avoid the area.
A cleaning woman is said to have sounded the alarm because in the morning she could not open the internally blocked front door. It inscriptions were discovered in Arabic, reported the station France Info, citing unnamed sources. "The museum will be a hell," was said to have been one of the threats.
As reported by the station BFMTV, the man refuses to communicate with the police so far. A special unit, which is usually used in crisis situations, is on site. According to initial assessments of the investigators, the man in the museum could be an "apparently mentally ill person". He did not take hostages according to the current state.
