In southern France, at least three people died in bad weather with heavy rain and floods. This was announced by Interior Minister Christophe Castaner. He did not name details.
According to media reports, a 68-year-old woman is among the dead. She died in Cazouls-d'Hérault after being swept along by the floods, the news channel BFMTV reported.
The storms had led to significant damage and traffic disruptions in the south of the country. Especially near the Mediterranean, numerous roads were closed. The rail traffic was also affected.
Castaner said there have been more than 1,700 missions with more than 2,000 firefighters and civil defense personnel in recent days. He spoke of a crisis situation. Affected are up to eight départements.
