The police speak of "heavy physical work": A ausgeüxte and driven away in a river cow has triggered a large-scale deployment of the fire department in Rhineland-Palatinate. It was only after several hours that the task force managed to hoist the cow to shore with ropes, it was said. A veterinarian and several teams of local volunteer fire departments were involved in the recovery work.
Motorists had sighted on Wednesday evening the runaway cow in Simmertal on the federal highway 41 and alarmed the police. The keeper of the cow as well as some helpers had already made some attempts to capture the nervous animal.
However, the cow had run over the railway tracks at the station Martinstein in the direction of proximity, it was said. Subsequently, the animal was driven away in the river flow towards Martinstein, before the forces finally saved his life.
