Naomi Campbell was "always the only black model"

Naomi Campbell was often the only black model at fashion shows. She felt very uncomfortable with that, says the Brit. And explains why the situation put them in a bind.

Naomi Campbell has been successful as a model for many years. But in her career she was repeatedly brought into unpleasant situations for her. "It was not a good feeling to always be the only black model on a show with 70 girls," the Briton said at the "WSJ Tech Live" conference, as "E! News" reported.

She had been at these events only the odds blacks. "It was uncomfortable, I did not like it," said the 49-year-old. If she had refused the requests, there would have been no black woman in the show. For Campbell apparently a difficult situation: "It was a dilemma." It was also not true that she did not want to work with other black models.

Even today, there are still brands that are only ostensibly diverse, said Campbell. However, she did not name any names. With time you will notice who is serious.

Cambpell had told Vogue in June that she saw a positive trend in the fashion industry. Human diversity is portrayed much better: "It has gotten really better, I can not say otherwise," she said then. In the past she had to fight for equal pay. At the fall shows of 2019, according to "The Fashion Spot", almost 40 percent of the models in Paris, Milan and New York were not whites.
