Teacher has to go to prison for child abuse

The Bonn district court has sentenced a teacher to two years and nine months imprisonment for child sexual abuse and possession of child pornography. Thus, the court went beyond the claim of the prosecutor, who had demanded a two-year suspended sentence.

"It must be rumored that there is no longer a prison sentence for crimes that are so massive," it said in the verdict. "We think that's the right signal."

The teacher from a Bonn school had spent 15 years on the Internet with eight- to twelve-year-old girls live chats, persuaded them to sexual acts or even carried out in front of them. The defendant had recorded the live chats and saved them on his computer. They were secured next to child pornography files during a house search in March 2018. Since then, the 43-year-old has been suspended from teaching.

Originally 44 cases were charged. Many of them were hired because the age-specific forensic expert was not sure if the girls were under 14 years old. The teacher loses his civil status and all pension entitlements.
