Respiratory problems with footballers trigger emergency medical intervention

Responsible was probably fertilizer in the field next to their sports field: breathing difficulties in amateur footballers have led in Baden-Württemberg to an emergency medical service.

When training the football team in Neckartailfingen on Thursday evening would have complained 15 players and two other people on airway irritation, said a police spokesman. There was a strange smell in the air, but it had already disappeared on the arrival of the fire department.

The reason for the smell and the complaints of the athletes was probably ammonia gas according to the police, as a farmer had previously spread manure on a nearby field. The athletes were treated by two emergency physicians on site, but after some time their complaints resolved again.
