In a refrigerated truck in the northern French port city of Calais eight migrants have been discovered - among them four children. They were taken to a hospital with slight hypothermia, said the local fire department.
The two truck drivers from Romania were arrested. The migrants said they were from Afghanistan. The truck was on its way to the UK, Calais is a major ferry port on the English Channel. Details about the route of the truck initially remained open.
In the UK, 39 bodies had been found in a truck load compartment the night before last Wednesday. The police are currently focusing on Vietnam as a country of origin, initially the investigators had assumed that the dead were Chinese.
