In an ambulance accident in Nümbrecht (North Rhine-Westphalia), a patient died. The 56-year-old driver and his 22-year-old colleague were seriously injured. They were taken to the hospital with rescue helicopters, a police spokesman said.
From an unknown cause, the ambulance had strayed off the road on a straight stretch and hit a tree. According to the police, the patient should be taken to another hospital after surgery. However, the 83-year-old suffered such serious injuries that he died at the scene of the accident.
