For a quarter of an hour, the two presenters were allowed to do what they wanted on ProSieben's TV program - and used the opportunity for a statement against right-wing populism and the presentation of a very special device.
Winterscheidt and Heufer-Umlauf won the 15 minutes of prime time on their show "Joko & Klaas gegen ProSieben". Right on time at 8:15 pm they appeared on stage, the scenery reminiscent of a founder's show. "What we present today is produced only when you find it as important as we do," Joko said. And Klaas called the context of their "product": The increase of right-wing populist slogans in politics and society cause them great concern. "Wrong facts are repeated so often until it is no longer a question of whether they vote or not," said Klaas.
Arguments against Fake News - presented by the voice actor of "The Rock"
Because conspiracy theories and sentiment can only be met with facts, they came up with a brilliant idea: The sound box with the name "Entkräfter Pro Max" offers support to those who are confronted with right-wing populist slogans and wanted to oppose them. The device is equipped with "bullshit-canceling" and can provide arguments against fake news at the touch of a button. These would be performed by the German voice of American-Canadian actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
"Never again must a right-wing populist commentary remain uncontested in the room," said Klaas enthusiastically. And Joko added, "This is just a prototype, but we want mass production." The soundbox was ordered at a cost of 10 euros - he and Klaas would earn nothing.
The fact that they are serious about the political concern in all the slap, they made clear at the end of their airtime. Their invention was intended to make a contribution to not leaving the public discourse to the right and right-wing extremists, they said. It is simply too easy to reduce complex social conditions to slogans.
