The media company Axel Springer reduces its executive board from five to four members. At the end of May 2020, Andreas Wiele will give up his position on the board after almost 20 years and leave the company, as the media company announced. The Supervisory Board and Wiele had agreed by mutual agreement.
The 57-year-old will be working for the US financial investor Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) next year. KKR wants to join Springer, so the growth in the digital is to be driven forward. The takeover of more than 40 percent of the Springer shares is still subject to antitrust clearance.
Wiele has been responsible for numerous departments since October 2000 as a member of the Axel Springer Executive Board. Since 2014, he has been a member of the Management Board for the Internet Classified Business division, which accounts for more than 60 percent of the consolidated result.
The responsibilities of this segment will in future be divided into the Management Board. Stephanie Caspar as Chief Executive Officer News Media National and Technology takes over the AVIV business with real estate business and Jan Bayer as Chief Executive Officer News Media International also has the responsibility for the StepStone Group, which deals with online job exchanges.
In addition to Caspar and Bayer, the Executive Board consists of CEO Mathias Döpfner and Julian Deutz as CFO and Human Resources.
Axel Springer had announced in September to massively rebuild the company and make it leaner.
