AfD rushes against Benigna Munsi for election to the Christ Child

2019-10-31T19:46:45.041Z

The AfD commented on the election of Benigna Munsi to the Nuremberg Christ Child with a stupid Facebook post. Users defended the 17-year-old - the party responded meekly.

Benigna Munsi was happy about her election to the traditional Nuremberg Christ Child, that's her. On photos, which were made shortly after the announcement of the electoral decision, the 17-year-old leaps laughing into the air. She had convinced a 15-member jury of herself, for two years she may now represent the city of Nuremberg and open, among other things, the Nuremberg Christmas market.

But only a short time later it should have been over for the time being with the joy. On Thursday, the student beat racist resentment - in the form of a Facebook post of AfD.

Originally, the AfD-Kreisverband München-Land had written on its Facebook page that the "Christ child in the pictures actually always only has golden hair", but changed the post yet again.

"Nuremberg has a new Christ child, one day it will be like the Indians," it said. For this purpose, the party published a picture of Munsi. Apparently, the AfD is referring to the displacement of the indigenous population of America by white settlers from Europe.

Users reacted promptly - defending Munsi. "One can only congratulate the citizens of Nuremberg on such a Christ child," wrote user Nicole Hamann. That's why I chose her, among other things, "wrote another. On Twitter, one user commented: "Thanks to the #NoAfD, the Nuremberg Christ Child probably has more fans than ever this year."

The #AfD München-Land is not even the #Christkind holy.

Meanwhile, a love storm has formed against the racist post on Facebook. For 17-year-old Benigna there are hundreds of congratulations and positive statements. # Nürnberg pic.twitter.com/LmuY2UyUNP

In just a few hours, 1600 comments were posted on the Facebook post - most of them positive. Some users therefore spoke of a "love storm", as opposed to a shitstorm.

Meanwhile, the AfD has deleted the post without comment. The Munich district organizer, Christina Specht, said that the contribution was not in line with the values of the AfD and had been posted by an editor of the district association. This has now resigned.

"I definitely do not share that kind of content." I would like to apologize to Mrs. Munsi on behalf of the district association and we think she will be a very good Christ child for Nuremberg, "says Specht.
