Demi Lovato's advice to teenagers: "Be yourself"

2019-11-04T12:46:47.343Z

"If you want to dye your hair purple, your hair turns purple": US singer Demi Lovato no longer wants to conform to the ideal of others - and advises young people not to pretend.

Demi Lovato has obviously been suppressing her true self for a long time in order to please others. "For many years, I tried to be a role model rather than being myself," the actress and singer said at a Los Angeles event over the weekend. She did not get tattoos when she was a teenager, so as not to upset a media company.

By mid-July 2018 Lovato had been hospitalized for a suspected drug overdose. After that, she went into a detox and withdrew from the public. The event "Teen Vogue" now marked her public comeback, so she was also "a bit nervous," said the 27-year-old. She has learned a lot in the past few months.

Lovato advised the teenagers in the room not to pretend, "If you want to dye your hair purple, your hair will turn purple, if you love someone of the same sex, love someone of the same sex, be yourself, and do not be afraid of what people think. "

Demi Lovato: True I suppressed

Recently, Lovato caused a stir with a raw bikini photo. "Guess it's cellulite !!!!", she wrote on Instagram. She was tired of being ashamed of her body and of wanting to conform to the ideal of others.

This is my biggest fear. A photo of me in a unedited bikini. And guess what, it's CELLULITE !!!! I'm literally sooooo tired of being ashamed of my body, editing it (yes the other bikini pics were edited - and I hate that I did that but it's the truth) , but it's just not me. This is what I got. I want to meet someone else's standards. So here's me, unashamed, unafraid and proud to own a body that has been through so much and will continue to amaze me when I hopefully give birth one day. It's such a great feeling to be back in tv / movie while not stressing myself with a strenuous workout schedule before 14 hours, or depriving myself from a real birthday cake rather than opting for watermelon & whip cream with candles because I was terrified of REAL cake and what miserable on some crazy diet shit. Anyway, here's me, RAW, REAL! And I love me. And you should love you too! Now back to the studio .. I'm working on an anthem .. ♀️ So. Just so everyone's clear .. I'm not stoked on my appearance BUT I am appreciative of it and sometimes that's the best I can do. I hope to inspect your body today too. #Nationalcelulliteday #celluLIT

In the past, Lovato talked about drug addiction and mental health problems. In 2010, the then 18-year-old teen star was treated for eating disorders, among other things. Later, Lovato announced that she was suffering from bipolar disorder.
