A 29-year-old woman confessed to the district court in Hildesheim, scalding a former girlfriend for revenge. She realized that the woman was responsible for the death of her dog. The dog was a child substitute for her and her husband.
Half an year before, the animal had been covered in blood, eviscerated and discovered with its tongue cut off in the home of the now 26-year-old friend. However, this denies killing the mini-Chihuahua "Mila". A corresponding procedure was discontinued.
The woman accused of scalding has to answer for serious bodily injury. She is said to have invited the former girlfriend to an alleged discussion about the dead dog in her Hildesheim apartment. Both had drunk alcohol.
Apology attempt with 500 euros in the courtroom
According to the indictment, the defendant infused the woman with a boiling oil-water mixture. The woman suffered severe scalds on 15 percent of the skin, her lungs failed at first, she was in mortal danger and was in a coma for a long time.
She could barely remember the deed, said the victim, whose right half of her face is paralyzed: "All I know is that my mouth burned like fire, I screamed, I ran around, animal pain." Her own combustion had smelled her.
The defendant wanted to apologize to the courtroom and tried to hand over 500 euros to the victim. She said, "I wish you all the best for the future." But the sobbing woman did not accept the money.
The accused, who is nine months pregnant, faces a sentence of between three and fifteen when convicted. The mother of a child of about one year has been in custody since the end of May. Before the first trial, she fled to Serbia and was arrested there a little later. Her husband refused the statement. He is said to have slept during the attack in the living room.
The defendant said she had been scared of herself after the fact and poured a second pot of cold water over her victim. She did not know that this was wrong. "I wanted to hurt her, but not that she becomes unconscious or dies." On November 14, a verdict should fall.
