A man already convicted of murder has been sentenced to 14 years imprisonment for manslaughter. The 50-year-old had, according to conviction of the judge in Hagen only about three months after his release, a 72-year-old woman from Schwerte killed.
According to the verdict, in the night of January 9, 2019, the man stabbed the elderly woman with a knife, then strangled her, and then put a fire in the apartment. The facts are unclear.
Judge Marcus Teich spoke of a "martyrdom" for the victim. In addition to the conviction, the district court also ordered the subsequent preventive detention. The accused did not comment on the allegations, but asked for forgiveness.
Transfer arrest to the network
The case had attracted nationwide attention because the defendant had filmed and broadcast live on Facebook, as the police stormed his home. After an initial ringing and several bangs, the video shows several policemen storming the apartment and arresting the man. Then the picture turns black.
Already in 1990, the man was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder. At that time he had in the opinion of the court a woman in Aachen after a failed rape murdered. A week earlier, he had been released from a four-year prison sentence for several thefts.
