After the attempted robbery in London on Mesut Özil and his Arsenal team-mate Sead Kolasinac, one of the two perpetrators of the Harrow Criminal Court has been sentenced to a prison sentence of ten years.
The 30-year-old Ashley Smith had stood in early October his involvement in the act, his four years younger accomplice Jordan N. filed in early November from a confession.
Smith, whom Judge Ian Bourne described as a "habitual criminal," and N. had attempted to steal the two football stars of Arsenal FC on July 25 this year. Smith was classified as the "driving force" of "very serious" crime. He was on probation for a burglary at the time of the act.
A surveillance video had shown how Özil and Kolasinac were attacked by two motorcyclists with knives at the time of the crime in London. Kolasinac had confronted the attackers with his bare hands, then the two players were able to escape by car. The season start with Arsenal had both then missed to process the events.
