Attack on police in Meckelfeld

For lack of evidence, a man has been acquitted in Lüneburg in the case of a beaten policeman. The victim is still suffering from the consequences of the attack.



About four years after an attack on a policeman in Meckelfeld, the district court of Lüneburg acquitted the accused. It could not prove the act to the 35-year-old in the appeal procedure beyond doubt, as among other things the NDR reported.

Both prosecutors and defense had pleaded in the case of acquittal. The plaintiff's lawyer, on the other hand, claimed three and a half years in prison as a co-plaintiff. The policeman was beaten down in August 2015 at a village festival in Meckelfeld and seriously injured in the head. He sustained lasting damage. Read more about the case here.

In March 2017, the district court Winsen had sentenced the now acquitted to four years in prison. Following an appeal by the defendant, the district court imposed three-and-a-half years' imprisonment on him in December 2017. He also spoke against this judgment. The higher regional court Celle gave the revision of the accused in September 2018 and referred the procedure back to the regional court Lueneburg. Now considering the victim, according to NDR to challenge the verdict.
