The American director Woody Allen and Amazon have ended their legal dispute. The lawsuit has now been set voluntarily and without a substantive decision, according to files of the Federal Court of Manhattan. The lawyers Allen and Amazon did not comment on the development so far.
Allen had been brought to court in February against movie production company Amazon Studios for breach of contract. He had filed a claim for damages amounting to $ 68 million (approximately € 61 million).
The four-time Oscar winner accused AmazonStudios of having canceled an earlier deal on the production and distribution of four feature films. The director had argued in the lawsuit, among other things, that Amazon Studios its already completed in 2018 finished film "A Rainy Day in New York", contrary to earlier arrangements do not bring out. The streaming service had cited "25-year-old baseless allegations against Mr. Allen" as the reason for this move, media sources quoted in the complaint.
Woody Allen's adoptive daughter, Dylan Farrow, had again in 2018 in the course of the "Time's Up" and "MeToo" movement allegations of allegations against the director, she was abused as a seven-year-old in the home. The 83-year-old has always rejected the allegations.
Some actors have been distancing themselves from the director in the past. Colin Firth, Timothée Chalamet, Mira Sorvino, Ellen Page and Greta Gerwig, among others, did not want to turn to Allen in the future.
