In southern France, four people were injured in an earthquake. This was announced by the authorities of the Départements Drôme and Ardèche. In the city of Montélimar a man was seriously injured in the collapse of a scaffold. He had to be taken to the hospital. The neighboring department Ardèche reported three slightly injured.
The epicenter was according to the station Franceinfo near the southern French city of Montélimar.
According to the US earthquake watch USGS, the quake had a magnitude of 4.8 and lasted about ten seconds. It happened at 11.52 CET. The French Seismology Institute BCSF in Strasbourg puts the strength at 5.4.

Residents of the particularly affected village part of Montélimar were called to stay in the open air for the time being and not to return to the building. The Prefecture of the County of Drôme reported that initially no major damage had been found.
