It is part of the big corporate conversion of Axel Springer: At the end of September, the media company announced, among other things, to merge the editors of "Bild" and "Bild am Sonntag", the "BamS" is to be included in the editorial processes of the daily newspaper. Even then it became apparent that "BamS" editor-in-chief Marion Horn, 53, would vacate her post. This was confirmed by Axel Springer now. Horn's successor is Alexandra Würzbach, previously vice-boss of the "Bild".
Chief Executive Officer Mathias Döpfner commented on Horn's departure: "As editor-in-chief, she has marked the investigative and political relevance of 'Bild am Sonntag' with competence and passion, and we greatly regret her departure." Horn thanked her team and explained her departure in the communication with the merger: "An independent editorial department is an important basis for my kind of journalism, so I go at my own request."
