Because of a rat in the passenger compartment, a domestic flight in India started just under twelve hours late. The Air India plane was supposed to take off from southern Hyderabad towards Visakhapatnam on the east coast of the country early Sunday morning - but then the rodent was sighted in the cabin.
According to local media reports, passengers had to wait at the airport until the airline's employees removed the animal from the machine. After a disinfection, the passengers could finally go on board.
Air India confirmed the news agency dpa's incident, but did not mention any details. The thing is being investigated, they said.
This is not the first time that a rat in India is interfering with air traffic. As early as 2017, a flight from the capital New Delhi to the US West Coast city of San Francisco had been delayed due to a rodent on board.
