Drugs have been washed up on the French Atlantic coast for weeks. On the beaches especially packages are found containing cocaine with a very high degree of purity of 83 percent, the police said. She called people who found her, not to touch them, but to inform the investigators.
But not all finders stuck to it. On Monday, a 17-year-old with five kilograms of cocaine was caught on the beach of Lacanau near Bordeaux. The teenager is said to have traveled from the three hours distant city of Toulouse.
The police barred around half a dozen beaches and has officers patrolled there. Strollers in the area are searched and nearby parking is under special observation. To monitor the 125-kilometer stretch of beach between Cap Ferret and Soulac-sur-Mer also a police helicopter was in use.
By Tuesday, 872 kilograms of drugs had been collected on the beaches, said prosecutor Philippe Astruc from the northwestern city of Rennes, where the operations are coordinated on the beaches. The news agency dpa, according to even more than a ton was found. The cocaine can easily cause a fatal overdose because of its high degree of purity.

According to the authorities, finds were reported from Nantes to Biarritz. Thus, the find areas extend to a length of more than 500 kilometers. The regional newspaper "Sud-Ouest" reported that some of the drug packages were labeled "Diamante" and "Brillante". After hurricane "Dorian" in September, similar packages were found on the beaches of the US state of Florida.
