One and a half years after the death of his daughter Emmy, the former US ski racer Bode Miller has again become a father. His wife gave birth to twins last week, the couple now announced in the "Today Show".
The child should therefore have come in a home birth to the world. According to the US media, the midwives did not arrive until after the birth was over. "When they arrived, my mother and I held the babies in their arms," said Bode Miller.
Last summer, the couple's 19-month-old daughter drowned in a swimming pool. Morgan Miller was pregnant at the time. In addition to her son Easton, the couple still has the four-year-old daughter Nash. The family also includes two other children from previous relationships of the ex-athlete.

Back in August, she wrote on Instagram that the twins were close to her daughter's death. "Since the beginning of this pregnancy, we knew that Emmy somehow got her hands on this miracle," she wrote, and "Losing a child during pregnancy was the most disturbing experience of my life."
The death of her daughter had aroused great sympathy in the past year. The girl had drowned during a visit to neighbors in their swimming pool. The mother had pulled her child out of the water and called the ambulance. But little Emeline's heart went out, she died on June 10, 2018.

On the occasion of the twin birth Bode Miller published a photo with a personal message. "There are no words for moments like this," it says. It took 30 minutes for both boys to have been born. "Welcome to the world, my racing boys."
Bode and Morgan Miller are married since 2012. Morgan Miller was a volleyball player for years. Bode Miller is considered to be the most successful US skier to date, winning 33 World Cup races and becoming world champion four times. His sporting highlight was winning the gold medal in the 2010 Super Combination at the Vancouver Olympics.
