Prince Andrew interviewed to Jeffrey Epstein

2019-11-15T14:28:54.038Z

How close were Jeffrey Epstein and Prince Andrew? The second oldest son of the queen is said to have expressed in a BBC interview on the dead sex offenders - and the allegations of abuse.

Prince Andrew may now be uncomfortable with his contacts with Jeffrey Epstein. The condemned sex offender was suspected to have forced underage girls to prostitution on a large scale. The US multimillionaire has now hanged himself in his New York prison cell - and the noble Briton is now trying to explain his relationship with Epstein in an interview with the BBC.

It is the first time that the second oldest son of Queen Elizabeth II answered questions about the abuse scandal surrounding the deceased US multimillionaire, the broadcaster said. On Saturday evening, the interview with the 59-year-old will be broadcast.

The prince is also under pressure because of his contacts with Epstein: One of the victims of the Epstein claimed that he had been forced into sex with the Royal several times. The prince rejected this several times as untrue.

Nevertheless, the criticism of Andrew did not stop. Again and again, footage came to light that showed Andrew with Epstein or in his New York estate - even after the multimillionaire had already served his first jail sentence for the allegations.

Already in the summer, Prince Andrew felt compelled to make an explanation. In it he denied having known about the machinations of Epstein. "I met Mr. Epstein in 1999. During the time I was acquainted with him, I saw him irregularly, and probably not more than once or twice a year, and I was visiting a number of his properties." Of abuse cases, he did not notice. It was also a mistake to see Epstein after his release.

France launches international witness appeal

A previous statement from the palace said: "His Royal Highness condemns the exploitation of every human being and the allegation that he would tolerate, participate in or animate such behavior is disgusting."

The case of the investigating authorities, in turn, does not close the case of Epstein even after the death of the entrepreneur. The French police have again launched a witness call - this time internationally. The investigators are looking for witnesses and victims of sexual harassment or sexual abuse and write: "Due to the complexity of the case and its international implications, we ask again victims and witnesses to report."

Epstein had killed himself on August 10th. He had been accused by the prosecutor of abusing dozens of minor girls. The 66-year-old had between 2002 and 2005 in New York and Florida built an illegal sex trade ring, it said in the indictment.

Victims and accomplices are reportedly also from France. The Paris Public Prosecutor's Office initiated preliminary investigations at the end of August. In this context, Epstein's apartment and a model agency in Paris in the chic eighth arrondissement were searched.

The British Guardian reported that Epstein's executors had asked a judge to authorize the creation of a fund to compensate for alleged victims. The fund should create a "voluntary, confidential, non-hostile alternative to litigation," it said.
