Taylor Swift's cry for help: "I just want to play my music"

2019-11-15T07:01:54.033Z

US pop star Taylor Swift is fighting for rights to her own songs. The 29-year-old sees even her appearance at the US music awards at risk - and turns with an appeal to her fans.

"Lover" is the name of Taylor Swift's current album. The anger of the pop superstar about their music rights, however, is no longer affectionate. The 29-year-old already sees her planned appearance at the American Music Awards (AMAs) in danger - and has now turned to her fans.

"I do not know what else to do," Swift wrote on Twitter to her fans and other musicians. She had planned to play a medley of her hits at the awards. Her former label boss at Big Machine Records, Scott Borchetta, and his new partner Scooter Braun now tried to stop it. Just as for a planned Netflix documentation, the new owners of their songs deny their rights of use.

Swift will be awarded the AMA's Artist of the Decade on November 24th. "I just want to be able to play my own music, that's it, I tried to clarify that privately by my team, but could not find a solution," the songwriter writes.

Taylor Swift: Fan post demanded against the music managers

She called fans and friends to contact the two men and change their minds. "Right now my appearances on the AMAs, the Netflix documentary and other recorded events I want to play until November 2020 are a question mark."

Swift had released her first six studio albums at Big Machine between 2006 and 2017, before joining Universal Music. According to US media reports, a holding Brauns acquired the label Big Machine for more than $ 300 million - and thus the rights to Swifts albums.
