Robert De Niro and Al Pacino are Oscar winners and longtime friends. For the first time in a long time, they were together again in front of the camera in "The Irishman". The director of the film gets into raptures.

Between the Hollywood stars Robert De Niro and Al Pacino there is a "magical" connection - that certainly finds cult director Martin Scorsese. The filmmaker praised the lead actor of his new movie in Los Angeles, saying, "What we see in the movie is their relationship as actors, as friends over the past 40, 45 years, that's something magical they have."

Scorsese has been working with De Niro and Pacino for decades, the three artists are known as friends. Their latest joint work "The Irishman" is a nostalgic gangster movie that will be released later this month on Netflix (read more about the movie here).

In it De Niro plays a former mafia killer named Frank Sheeran, who looks back on his life, including his relationship with a disappeared union leader. This one is played by Pacino. Besides Pacino and De Niro, Joe Pesci also plays a role in the film. The film lasts 209 minutes and is only aired in a few cinemas in Germany (read here a detailed interview with Martin Scorsese about the film).
