A drone has endangered a motor glider approaching the Freiburg airfield. The critical situation occurred on Friday afternoon at an altitude of about 300 meters near the central station, the police said.
The pilot of the motor glider could have avoided the remote-controlled aircraft. According to the police, the drone driver must have been near the main train station. The officials are investigating dangerous interference with air traffic (more about drones and the associated danger can be found here).
The multitude of drones is increasingly becoming a problem - which is also the concern of the security authorities. In August, the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) for the first time confirmed the use of technology for the defense of remote-controlled aircraft. In May, a jammer in Berlin stopped the approach of a drone.

In addition to the Federal Criminal Police Office, according to the government, the Federal Police also has "technical systems for the detection and defense against drones". Last year, the police registered 118 unauthorized drone flights in Berlin alone, 54 of them in the government district. Compared to 2016, the violations of flight bans more than doubled. The number of potentially dangerous sightings of drones near airports has increased more than tenfold since 2015.
The BKA warns of an increasing threat of drones. "The range of criminal applications is wide-ranging," the agency said in August. Conceivable scenarios ranged from disturbances of events over spying "up to possible terrorist attacks, whose goals can include large events".
