"Tagesschau": Mobile transmission breakdown makes contribution collapse via radio holes

2019-11-18T18:08:02.237Z

A "Tageschau" reporter wanted to explain live, what the federal government wants to do against dead spots in Germany, because the contribution faltered. The reason: apparently a bad connection.

First froze the picture, then the sound was off: Of all the live switch for a "Tagesschau" contribution on the anti-Funkloch meeting of the Federal Cabinet broke off, and reason was probably a poor phone connection.

Just when reporter Kristin Becker wanted to explain what the German government wants to do after the meeting at Schloss Meseberg in Brandenburg against dead spots in the countryside, the contact with her broke off.

On demand, Helge Fuhst, Second Editor-in-Chief of ARD-aktuell stated that it would be impossible to say exactly why the switch suddenly collapsed. The transmitter had transferred from Meseberg with the app LiveU, which uses for it the portable radio net.

It could come in case of poor network coverage or heavy use in the area to transmission interruptions. Because it fit thematically, the speaker had responded to the glitch with a wink. A later switch to Meseberg with the same technique then worked perfectly again.

"I am afraid we had a radio hole to Meseberg Unfortunately, the connection with it has broken off We apologize and come to the next topic", had "Tagesschau" spokesman Claus-Erich Boetzkes on Monday in the 12 o'clock broadcast directly after the premature end of the circuit.

On Twitter, the "Tagesschau" team commented on the incident:

Our switch to the anti-Funkloch meeting of the Federal Cabinet in #Meseberg was unfortunately interrupted. The reason: apparently a radio hole. pic.twitter.com/kQWqHAI42S

The Cabinet had continued on Monday in the guest house of the Federal Government in Meseberg its closed meeting to expand the mobile network and the digital structure. To close dead spots, the federal government wants to provide more than a billion euros. The government wants to set up a mobile infrastructure company to support the expansion and, if necessary, to award contracts themselves.
