The past few years have obviously been anything but easy for Matt Damon. In an interview with the "Augsburger Allgemeine", the Hollywood star has reported a crisis in his life.
He wanted to pause for a year because of his family, because he had previously made five films in a row. "But my father was dying in 2017, so we went back to my hometown Boston so I could be in the hospital with my dad, it was a terrible, very tough year," Damon said.
Because this has brought no real break for his family, he has once again hung a year off. "That was really necessary."

Matt Damon: Time out for the familyHollywood has changed a lot in the past few years, according to Damon: "There are quite different films being produced - the kind of dramas that were my bread and butter business are going on TV or are not going to be made anymore - it was almost unbelievable that we still got the money for a movie like 'Le Mans 66'. " In the nostalgic racer drama Damon is currently seen on the side of Christian Bale in the cinemas.
On the future of the industry, Damon said, "There's still work to do for me, but if I got into business now, I'd be scared, because there's no security anymore."
He also sees this in his eldest daughter, who is now 21 years old. She has a wonderful eye as a photographer, Damon said. "But can I tell her in good conscience that she should seek such a career, who knows how the technology will evolve?"
