The businessman and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein died in a New York prison. The case may now have legal consequences for the on-duty guards.

Two guards have been charged with the death of US entrepreneur and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. A New York court accused the two men of having falsified prison records.

According to the indictment, they did not inspect Epstein's cell every half hour, as required, and prepare appropriate protocols. To hide their omissions, they would have given incorrect information on official forms.

Epstein was found dead in a New York prison on August 10th. According to the autopsy, he had committed suicide. He had been accused by the prosecutor of the US metropolis to have abused dozens of underage girls. The businessman had between 2002 and 2005 in New York and Florida built an illegal sex trade ring, it said in the indictment.
