In France, a pregnant woman has apparently been attacked and killed by several dogs. There was a hunt near the scene at the same time.

In the north of France, the body of a 29-year-old has been found. According to the autopsy, she had suffered several severe bite injuries in a dog attack on the head, body and limbs, reported French media.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Saturday at the edge of a hunt near the town of Villers-Cotterêts, in which a Poitevin dog crowd was involved. "As far as we know, the tragic incident has no connection with our dogs or the hunting event," said one of the participants, Angèle Van Den Berghe, the newspaper "L'Union".

Currently, 93 dogs are being examined to find out which animal might be behind the attack. Among them are five dogs belonging to the woman herself. The police investigate for negligent homicide.

According to the prosecutor's office, the woman had called her husband before she died and reported that several dogs wanted to attack her. The husband then found the body.

Former animal rights activist and activist Brigitte Bardot called on the French authorities to immediately withdraw all hunting licenses for this season. The National Hunting Association emphasized that so far there is no evidence that hounds are responsible for the death of the woman.
