These are the most important music prizes in the USA and will be awarded in Los Angeles at the end of January. Now the nominees have been announced for the Grammy Awards. President of the recording Academy, Deborah Dugan, announced at a press conference that rapper Lizzo ("Truth Hurts") has a chance to win the prize in eight categories. This makes her the most nominated artist this year.
Closing on Lizzo's heels are pop singer Billie Eilish ("Bad Guy") and country rapper Lil Nas X, with nominations in six categories. Lizzo and Ellish are among the "Best Pop Solo Performers" in the series - in this category they compete against the two powerful female superstars Beyoncé ("Spirit") and Taylor Swift ("You Need to Calm Down").
There are 84 categories in total. Winners will be announced live on January 26 by US broadcaster CBS from Staples Center, California. The hostess is the singer Alicia Keys.
