Several passengers have slightly injured in the collision of a regional train with a car in Mönchengladbach, police said. About 200 passengers sat in the RE4 to Dusseldorf, as a railway spokesman said.
According to initial findings of the police, an elderly woman in the morning had accidentally driven onto the rails at a railroad crossing. She probably mistook the tracks for the road. Before the collision with the train, she had been able to leave her car.
The route between Mönchengladbach-Rheydt and Baal initially remained closed. The railway has set up buses as replacement traffic.
