Ibrahim Miri: Bremer clan chief is to pay for deportations themselves

2019-11-24T08:47:05.366Z

For the second time, the Bremen clan Miri has been deported to Lebanon. According to a media report, he should pay the costs himself. The relevant decisions are already in progress.

On Saturday, the illegally arrived clunkman Ibrahim Miri was deported to Beirut. It was already the second deportation within a few months. According to a newspaper report, Miri should reimburse the costs in both cases. Corresponding cost statements to Miri are already in work, reported the "Bild am Sonntag".

Miri's first deportation in July alone cost approximately € 65,000, according to security sources. Since a second deportation detainee had been on board the Learjets, Miri would probably take over half of these costs.

According to the report, the responsible immigration office in Bremen has already reimbursed the proportionate costs of the Federal Police. The state of Bremen now wants to reclaim the money from Miri. A spokeswoman for the Bremen Interior Senator Ulrich Mäurer (SPD) confirmed to the newspaper that a bill was in the works. "He will be sent to his lawyer regardless of his whereabouts," the spokeswoman said.

Immigration office must drive money

The residence law states in clause 66 (1) that deportation costs must be borne by the designated alien. The money has to be collected by the competent immigration office.

Insofar as the claim can not be collected, enforcement measures may be initiated by the competent state authorities. As a last step, detention can be arranged. Any arrest warrants would be deposited in police investigation systems - in the event of a possible illegal return of Miri to Germany.

The Bremen administrative court had on Friday rejected an urgent request Miris against a possible expulsion unimpeachable. As a result, the Lebanese was flown to Beirut on Saturday and handed over to the authorities in Lebanon by the Federal Police.

According to the German security authorities, Miri is the head of a criminal family clan. He was convicted in Germany 18 times from 1989 to 2014, including robbery, theft, stealing, embezzlement and gang drug trafficking. He was released from prison early in March. He was then deported to Lebanon in July. He had been obliged to leave the country for many years. At the end of October he showed up in Bremen, filed an asylum application and was arrested (read more about the case here).

The illegal reintroduction of the notorious clan chief had hit high political waves. Federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer (CSU) ordered reinforced border controls and also announced a tightening of the law, so that foreigners with entry bans on re-entry can also be indefinitely put into detention. So far this is only possible for a limited time.
