In Kassel in northern Hesse, two policemen and the escapees themselves were slightly injured during a chase. The 21-year-old was taken to a psychiatric hospital after his arrest, the police said. At the time of his arrest, the man sprayed two officers with an irritant and injured them by resisting his hands.
In the night of Saturday, the 21-year-old had noticed a patrol, that he used his mobile phone at the wheel and drove conspicuously slow. The man ignored halting signals, instead he suddenly quickened. During the chase across Kassel he had been traveling at speeds well over a hundred kilometers an hour.
Only in a dead end police managed to stop the fugitives. The man rammed a patrol car twice before he could be arrested. He was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, was slightly injured during his arrest and taken to a hospital as a precautionary measure. The amount of damage estimated the police to 3000 euros.
